Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text is double-spaced; the font size is 12 points; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the appropriate locations within the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text complies with the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published or submitted to any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The file to be sent is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for the references.
  • If submitted to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, anonymity must be ensured both in the manuscript itself and in the file’s metadata.

Author Guidelines

Chihuahua Hoy is a journal published by the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez that accepts submissions on all topics, provided they have some connection to the state of Chihuahua, from both domestic and international authors. It is a peer-reviewed journal that uses a double-blind review system. It accepts original, unpublished works in Spanish and English.

Editorial Criteria for Chihuahua Hoy

  • All topics are accepted, provided they have some reference to the state of Chihuahua, are authored by national or international authors, and are original and unpublished. We accept research articles, review articles (analyzing a minimum of 50 scientific articles no more than 10 years old), critical reviews, and essays.
  • Documents must adhere to the APA 7th edition style, with brief and engaging titles in both Spanish and English.
  • Include an abstract of no more than 200 words, as well as five keywords, both in Spanish and English. The English abstract must capture the meaning of the Spanish text.
  • The length should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words.
  • When using artificial intelligence tools to generate any part of your text, you must indicate this in a footnote; furthermore, AI-generated text must not exceed 25% of the total manuscript.
  • Submit the electronic document as a Word file (without author information, following the Submission Form for Research Articles, Review Articles, Book Reviews, and Essays) via the following link: info.uacj.mx/chihuahuahoy
  • Authors must attach a brief CV that includes: full name, affiliation, name of the institution, ORCID, and email address.
  • All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process conducted by external expert reviewers from national and international institutions.
  • The journal operates on an “Ahead of Print” basis; therefore, approved articles will proceed to the editing and layout process before being published in their digital version.
  • Authors will retain their copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication of their article.
  • A maximum of three authors per article is permitted. Both authors and contributors must actively participate in the preparation of the manuscript, either through contributions to the discussion or the final review; these contributions must be detailed according to the CRediT Taxonomy and submitted as a “Letter to the Editor” when uploading the submission to the OJS platform.

The journal uses the Turnitin and iThenticate software tools to monitor for plagiarism.

Manuscripts that do not meet the above requirements will not be considered.
