Abstract

The study focuses on analyzing the population's perception of urban qualities and characterizing the housing developments built mainly during the first half of the 20th century, a period that saw the first growth of the city of Aguascalientes driven by early industrialization.

The research was structured around two questions: What are the urban characteristics that distinguish the neighborhoods that were built in the city? And how do their inhabitants perceive the habitat in the neighborhoods?

The main objective was to identify the urban characteristics that distinguish the neighborhoods built during this period and to assess their residents' appreciation of the environment in which they live. To achieve this goal, the research was structured around indicators related to urban morphology, the functioning of services, pedestrian accessibility conditions, perceptions of housing, and the availability of urban facilities, among others. The methodology combined documentary analysis, field data collection, and the application of social perception instruments, which made it possible to contrast the physical conditions of the environment with the daily experience of its inhabitants.

The findings provide methodologically supported information that can be applied to the urban design of housing developments currently under construction in the city.
