The infidelity of the gods: Language and simulacrum in Pierre Klossowski

Abstract

Pierre Klossowski made use of the doctrine of the eternal return of Nietzsche in order to question the principle of identity; a false principle that, as the GodOne, pretends to be unique and real. Likewise, Klossowski availed themselves of the Nietzschean figure of the “death of God” to discuss the sunset of identity, and to question the certainties deposited in the sufficiency and effectiveness of the language.
