Environmental psychology research has been searching for features that make a natural setting a salutogenic setting. Even when it is recognized that it is the natural features that give a natural setting the salutogenic quality, there are only a few studies specifying habitats used as stimulus to elicit the salutogenic response, and even when they do, they use generic categories, such as that of a biome. More specific categorizations for a natural space and its features are, in ecology, ecosystems; and in landscape architecture, perceived sensory dimensions (PSD). The objective of this study was to generate a photo gallery and to get it through experts assessment, in ecology to assess tamaulipan thornscrub, and in landscape architecture to assess PSDs. Thirty four photos received an acceptable score, most of them belonging to PSDs Natural and Cohesive, while PSDs Sheltered, Cultural, and Serene obtained less representativity. The resulting gallery is expected to be further used in research to identify scenes with the most salutogenic qualities within tamaulipan thornscrub and to be compared with other ecosystems galleries, among other uses. Relevance of considering specific ecosystems when promoting health through contact with nature is discussed, given the diverse bioregions, the availability of salutogenic scenarios within them, their capabilities to sustain quality urban greenspace, and their relationship with environmental and cultural conservation ideals.
