Author Biographies

Adán Cano Aguilar, Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez

PhD in Philosophy with a specialization in social work and comparative social welfare policies. He is a research professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez, Nuevo Casas Grandes Campus, Chihuahua. He is the founder of the Multidisciplinary Network for Desert Studies, which has organized the International Colloquium on Desert Cultures since 2013. Recent publications include: Cano Aguilar and Chávez Ortiz (2025) The household survey for action research on knowledge and cultural heritage in northwestern Chihuahua, Mexico; Cano-Aguilar, A.; Estrada-Ruiz, M.J.; Chávez-Ortiz, G.E.; Escobar-León, M.C. and Aguillón-Robles, J. (2024) Components of social welfare in rural households in the ixtle-producing region of northwestern Mexico. Estudios Sociales. Journal of Contemporary Food and Regional Development, 34(63). She currently coordinates the Ethnobotanical Garden of Chihuahua project in Paquimé with the support of the SECITHI-RENAJEB 2024-2026 program. Her lines of research are: poverty and marginalization and social policies; social reproduction of subjects; ethnobotanical heritage.
