Resumen

Resumen.

Se presentan las propiedades y características de los plaguicidas, incluyendo la solubilidad en agua, El coeficiente de partición lípido-agua, la presión de vapor, disociación e ionización, y degradabilidad. Se anotan de forma breve los tipos de envenenamiento por plaguicidas con énfasis en los tipos directos como el envenenamiento agudo, crónico, secundario, y efectos indirectos. Se mencionan el uso de las especies indicadoras para determinar el impacto de los plaguicidas manejando las pruebas de toxicidad en plantas y animales, la prueba para la toxicidad aguda LD 50 con dosis sencillas orales, la prueba del octavo día LC50, y las pruebas de reproducción y de condiciones de campo. Se discuten la forma de la determinación de riesgos, la interpretación de los efectos ambientales a partir de datos de pruebas de toxicidad, enfatizando los plaguicidas de organoclorados, organofosfatos y carbamatos. Finalmente, se explica el riesgo en el manejo de los plaguicidas.
